INDICATIONS:

Yarrow is used to help reduce a fever related to a cold. It will help to reduce body temperature when it is too high or too uncomfortable. It is best used when acute with the common cold and fever. It is important to remember that fever is the immune system’s response to being overloaded and fever is the body’s attempt to heal itself from invasions of germs, virus and bacteria. A fever response is the immune system working to heal oneself and to reestablish homeostasis. A fever causes white blood cell (WBC) phagocytosis (munching) to increase, causes interferon to increase, causes more WBC to be made and the increase in body temperature alone can kill off negative pathogens. Yarrow is best used to help control a fever when “too high” or when the fever causes body pain beyond one’s comfort zone. In such acute phases, take it hourly until the temperature goes down.

Yarrow is also used to stop bleeding. It is hemostatic and can be applied topically to help stop bleeding and can be used internally to help reduce internal bleeding. For internal bleeding, it is not for significant bleeding, but is best used for passive bleeding from chronically inflamed mucosal membranes.
